In addition to standard Aussies, we also raise Miniature Australian Shepherds — sometimes called “Mini Aussies.” These smaller versions have all the brains, heart, and beauty of the full-size breed, just in a more compact package.
Mini Aussies usually range from 13 to 18 inches tall and weigh between 20 to 40 pounds, making them ideal for people who want a smart, active dog but don’t have space for a larger breed.
Despite their size, Minis are not “watered down” versions. They are just as trainable, just as eager to please, and just as protective of their families. We’ve found them to be fantastic dogs for families with kids, people who live in smaller homes or RVs, or those who want a portable companion to bring everywhere.
Many of our Mini Aussies have gone on to be trained as service dogs, therapy dogs, and emotional support animals. Their intelligence, sensitivity, and manageable size make them perfect for those roles. They form tight bonds with their owners and are always looking for a job, even if it’s just sticking by your side.
